2 Girls Badly Injured in Oak Park Pedestrian Crash at Kanan and Smoke Tree
OAK PARK, CA (September 12, 2022) – Two were badly injured after a pedestrian crash at Kanan Road and Smoke Tree Avenue in Oak Park.
According to an article published by The Ventura County Star, the accident took place on Sunday evening. Officers reported the wreck on September 11 at about 7:52 p.m.
The incident happened when two 17-year-old girls were crossing Kanan Road and Smoke Tree Avenue in Oak Park. At the same time, a 2005 Toyota Camry was traveling at 40 mph north on Kanan.
For an unknown reason, the car ran a red light at the intersection with Smoke Tree. The California Highway Patrol said the driver then struck the victims.
Driver Runs Red Light, Hits Teens
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found both teens hurt. The girls, both from Oak Park, sustained moderate injuries as a result of the pedestrian collision.
Medical personnel soon rushed them to the Los Robles Regional Medical Center for treatment. The report did not disclose the condition of the wounded parties at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP added that the 71-year-old Palmdale woman driving the Toyota ended up unharmed and stayed at the site following the incident.
Officers forced the area of Kanan and Smoke Tree to shut down after the accident. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
