Centenarian Hit and Killed by Vehicle at 19th and Harrison Street
Oakland, CA (February 20, 2023) – A 100-year-old man died following a suspected hit-and-run collision that occurred in the area of 19th and Harrison Street.
The CBS News reported the male pedestrian was crossing the intersection in Lake Merritt Sunday morning, February 19. While in the middle of the roadway, a passing motorist failed to yield and struck the man. The force from the impact resulted in major injuries to the pedestrian, officials said.
Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Oakland
Shortly after 7 a.m., emergency crews arrived at the scene and immediately attended to the victim. An ambulance transported the patient to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and passed away. Authorities only identified the deceased as a 100-year-old Asian-American male, and an Oakland resident.
The article published online confirmed the driver involved in the horrible crash fled the scene. At this time, detectives continue to gather information to identify and locate the hit-and-run suspect.
