1 Killed in Oakland Crash on Interstate 580 Near Park Boulevard
OAKLAND, CA (February 14, 2022) – A crash killed at least one person on the Interstate 580 near Park Boulevard in Oakland.
According to the East Bay Times and SF Gate, the tragic accident took place on Monday night. Officers reported the wreck shortly after 9:50 p.m., east of Lake Merritt.
The California Highway Patrol said several vehicles collided for an unknown reason on the Interstate 580 in Oakland. They crashed in the westbound lanes near Park Boulevard.
Multiple Vehicles Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived and pronounced one individual dead at the scene. Medical personnel provided treatment to the other people who ended up hurt following the incident.
The name of the deceased victim has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, the cause of the fatal Oakland crash is still under investigation.
CHP forced all four westbound lanes of the Interstate 580 to shut down for hours near Park Boulevard as a result of the collision.
