Elderly Man Fatally Struck by Semi Near Merle Haggard Drive
Oildale, CA (April 12, 2023) – A 73-year-old man died following a pedestrian accident that occurred on State Route Highway 65, the ABC23 and KGET News reported.
Officials said a 2020 Peterbilt truck hit an individual along the highway near Merle Haggard Drive. The horrible crash took place April 8, Saturday, around 1:31 a.m.
Preliminary investigation revealed the Peterbilt truck was heading south on SR-65. For reasons still unclear, the victim was walking in a southerly direction on the highway. The passing semi struck the pedestrian in the area near Merle Haggard Drive and Imperial Avenue in Oidale.
Pedestrian Killed in Oildale Accident
When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found the victim lying in the west shoulder of the southbound lane of SR-65. Responding paramedics performed life-saving measures to the injured pedestrian but he sadly succumbed to his injuries and passed away. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the identity of the deceased remained undisclosed.
