1 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured in Oildale Crash at China Grade and McCray
OILDALE, CA (July 12, 2022) – A crash at China Grade Loop and McCray Street killed one person and injured another in Oildale.
According to the Kern Golden Empire and Bakersfield Californian, the tragic accident took place on Tuesday morning. Officers reported the wreck at around 9:38 a.m.
The incident happened when a Chevrolet Silverado was going westbound on West China Grade Loop, approaching McCray Street, in Oildale. At the same time, a Volvo XC90 was traveling north on McCray.
For an unknown reason, the two cars collided in the intersection. The California Highway Patrol said the Chevrolet continued southwest and then slammed into a light pole.
2 Cars Collide
The driver of the Silverado, a 43-year-old Bakersfield man, ended up ejected from the pickup truck as a result of the collision. He soon died at the scene.
The 52-year-old Bakersfield woman driving the Volvo ended up suffering from serious injuries following the accident. Paramedics rushed her to the Kern Medical for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP forced the area of China Grade and McCray to shut down for a time after the wreck.
The cause of the fatal Oildale crash is still under investigation.
