Driver Taken Into Custody After Deadly Pedestrian Accident at Stockton Boulevard and Fruitridge Road
Sacramento, CA (January 2, 2022) – Police arrested 33-year-old Oletha Durham in relation with a fatal DUI collision that occurred in the area of Stockton Boulevard and Fruitridge Road.
According to ABC10 News, Durham was behind the wheel of a vehicle traveling in the streets of Sacramento. The driver struck a pedestrian when it sped through the intersection of Stockton and Fruitridge. The catastrophic incident took place Sunday at approximately 1:20 a.m.
Responding emergency teams found the pedestrian lying on the ground. Despite life-saving measures, the male victim succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. Police continue to withhold the name of the deceased pending confirmation.
Meanwhile, the article published online mentioned Oletha Durham fled the scene before officers arrived. Rescue teams spotted the hit-and-run suspect a short distance away from the crash site. Authorities said the motorist showed signs of intoxication during the arrest.
Officials said they took Oletha Durham into custody on felony charges related to vehicular manslaughter; leaving the scene of a collision; vehicle theft and driving under the influence.
The Sacramento Police Department is the agency handling the investigation.
