1 Hospitalized After Collision at Rice Avenue and Camino Del Sol Wednesday
Oxnard, CA (August 18, 2021) – At least one person suffered injuries following a truck accident that occurred in the area of Rice Avenue and Camino Del Sol.
The Ventura County Star News reported 62-year-old Ventura man was behind the wheel of a big rig heading south on Rice Avenue. Preliminary investigation revealed the truck was making a left turn onto Camino Del Sol. At about the same time, a pickup truck heading north on Rice drove through the intersection.
Pickup Pinned Under Truck After Accident in Oxnard, August 18
Officials said the pickup slammed into the side of the big rig. The force from the impact left eh pickup pinned underneath the trailer of the semi.
Shortly after 9:45 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the crash site. Responding firefighters worked extensively to extricate the driver trapped in the pickup, a 68-year-old Oxnard man. After emergency crews successfully pulled out the victim, they rushed the man to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. Additional details on the patient have not been discussed thus far.
Authorities added the operator of the big rig appeared unharmed after the incident.
At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the big rig truck accident in Oxnard.
