10 Injured in Pacoima Metrolink Train Crash Near Paxton Street
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 29, 2021) – Several were injured after a Metrolink train crash on Paxton Street in the Pacoima neighborhood.
According to the ABC 7 News and CBS Los Angeles, the accident occurred on Friday morning, Officers reported the wreck on May 28 at about 11:10 a.m.
The incident began when for an unknown reason an unoccupied vehicle stalled on the tracks at a crossing near Paxton Street in Pacoima. It is between the Sylmar/San Fernando and Sun Valley stations.
The southbound Metrolink Antelope Valley Line train 212 then hit the parked car. A total of 85 passengers were on board the train at the time.
Train Hits Unoccupied Car on Tracks
The train went several hundred yards after colliding with the vehicle and came to a rest near Van Nuys Boulevard. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon responded to the scene.
They found a total of 10 passengers who complained of pain as a result of the collision. Medical personnel took seven of them to nearby hospitals for treatment of moderate injuries.
The other three patients declined further aid. Officials did not release the names of all the wounded victims and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, officers forced the tracks to shut down following the wreck. The scheduled operations of the Metrolink ended up delayed for an hour and 40 minutes due to the accident.
The Pacoima train crash is still under investigation.
