Bicycle Rider Injured in Petaluma Crash on Washington Street and Highway 101
PETALUMA, CA (September 13, 2022) – A bicycle rider was hospitalized after a crash on Washington Street and Highway 101 in Petaluma.
According an article published by The Press Democrat, the accident took place on Monday evening. Officers reported the collision on September 12 at about 7:48 p.m.
The incident happened when for an unknown reason, a Dodge Ram pickup truck hit the bicycle rider on a freeway overpass in the city of Petaluma.
Bicyclist Hit by Car
Police said the car struck the bicyclist on East Washington Street at the northbound Highway 101 off-ramp. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel rushed the patient to the Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in Santa Rosa for treatment.
The report did not disclose the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, police did not mention if the driver of the truck stopped and stayed at the site following the incident.
Officials forced the eastbound side of the Washington Street and Highway 101 overpass to shut down after the crash. The cause of the Petaluma bicycle accident is still under investigation.
