Precious Nievas, 25; and Philip Nievas, 21, Victims in San Jose Fatal Crash
SAN JOSE, CA (April 30, 2021) – A car crash on Lawrence Expressway killed Precious Nievas and Philip Nievas in San Jose.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office identified the siblings as the victims of the fatal accident on Monday night.
The incident happened when Precious Nievas, 25; and Philip Nievas, 21, were riding a 1999 Toyota Camry south on Lawrence Expressway in San Jose.
At the same time, police officers tried to pull over a Honda Accord. The 18-year-old driver of the Honda did not stop, sped away and then ran a red light.

Police said the Accord ultimately broadsided the Toyota near Mitty Way. The impact forced the Camry to careen into a sound wall on the west side of the expressway.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and pronounced Precious Nievas and Philip Nievas dead at the scene. Officials reported the wreck on April 26 at around 10 p.m.
The motorist in the Honda sustained serious injuries including a broken back as a result of the collision. His 17-year-old passenger survived with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Mercury News and KTVU News wrote that medical personnel took them to a hospital for treatment. Their names were not released.
Meanwhile, authorities arrested the 18-year-old on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter, evading a peace officer, and assorted gun and drug offenses. They soon charged him with two counts of murder.
