Moreno Valley Man, 69, Killed in Crash on Box Springs Road
MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (October 11, 2021) — Primitivo Martinez, 69, of Moreno Valley, died in a Moreno Valley pedestrian accident involving a tow truck Monday morning on Box Springs Road.
A tow truck struck the pedestrian about 7:22 a.m. on Oct. 11th near Clark Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department‘s Moreno Valley Station.
Police located the injured pedestrian in the roadway and requested paramedics. They transported the man to a local hospital. Sadly, Primitivo Martinez later died at the hospital due to severe injuries.
The Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating.
Pedestrian Struck by Tow Truck on Box Springs Road
The tow truck allegedly exited a nearby apartment complex before turning left onto eastbound Box Springs Road.
At the same time, the pedestrian was crossing northbound in the roadway from the south curb line outside of any marked crosswalks. The driver told authorities that as the tow truck turned onto Box Springs Road, the driver’s vision was obstructed by sunlight. The tow truck struck the pedestrian as he was walking or standing in the middle of the roadway.
The Riverside County Sheriff Coroner identified the pedestrian as Primitivo Martinez, 69, of Moreno Valley.
Also, police do not believe that drugs and or alcohol were factors in the deadly pedestrian accident.
