Pedestrian Killed in Rancho Cordova Crash on Coloma Road
RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (September 10, 2022) – A hit-and-run crash killed a pedestrian on Coloma Road in Rancho Cordova.
According to The Sacramento Bee and ABC 10 News, the tragic accident took place on Thursday morning. Officers reported the collision at around 5 a.m.
The incident happened on September 8 when a female pedestrian was walking along Coloma Road near McGregor Drive in the city.
Rancho Cordova police said for an unknown reason, a vehicle struck her. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found the woman down on the ground.
Driver Hits Woman, Flees Scene
The victim ended up suffering from serious injuries as a result of the accident. Medical personnel soon pronounced her dead at the scene.
The name of the deceased woman has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, the driver did not stop to render aid to the victim and fled the area.
Police identified and made contact with the motorist a few hours later. Officers forced a stretch of Coloma Road to shut down for a time following the collision.
The cause of the fatal Rancho Cordova pedestrian crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the police at 916-876-7558.
