1 Hospitalized After Collision at Placer Street and Cumberland Drive
Redding, CA (November 6, 2022) – A 66-year-old man suffered injuries following a traffic accident that occurred in the area of Placer Street and Cumberland Drive.
2-Car Accident in Redding
According to Action News Now, and ABC7, two vehicles collided at the intersection in Redding Saturday evening. Preliminary investigation revealed a 66-year-old Redding resident was behind the wheel of a 2009 Toyota Corolla heading west on Placer. Our sources indicated the Toyota was preparing to make a left turn onto Cumberland. At about the same time, a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche heading east on Placer approached the intersection.
Officials said the Corolla made the left turn and ended up driving into the path of the Avalanche. The front-end of the Avalanche slammed against the passenger side of the Corolla, causing both cars to spun towards the east side of the intersection.
Shortly after 6:15 p.m., medical personnel arrived at the site. Responding paramedics found the driver of the Corolla suffering in injuries. The article published online mentioned an ambulance transported the patient to Mercy Medical Center for further treatment and evaluation. Personal information on the patient remained undisclosed pending confirmation.
The Redding Police Department Traffic Unit responded to the scene. Officers shut down the crossing to give way to the investigation process. At this time, detectives continue to work to determine the precise cause of the collision that happened at Placer Street and Cumberland Drive.
