1 Killed, 1 Injured in Redding Pedestrian Crash Near C Street and Fifth Street
REDDING, CA (October 18, 2021) – A crash killed a pedestrian and seriously injured another near C Street and Fifth Street in Redding.
According to the Action News Now and the Record Searchlight, the tragic accident took place on Saturday night. Officers reported the collision on October 16 shortly before 9 p.m.
The incident began when two women were standing on the west shoulder of C Street near Fifth Street, next to a parked vehicle with its door open. At the same time, a pickup truck was going south on C St.
Police said for an unknown reason, the car struck the pedestrians. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found both victims hurt.
Victims Hit by Car
A woman involved died at the scene. The other pedestrian ended up suffering from serious injuries as a result of the Redding crash.
Medical personnel rushed her to the Mercy Medical Center in Redding for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, police did not mention if the driver of the truck stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the victims. Officers forced the area of C Street and Fifth Street to shut down following the collision.
The cause of the fatal Redding pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
