Motorcyclist Seriously injured in Redding Crash on Cypress Avenue Near Hartnell
REDDING, CA (April 2, 2022) – A crash seriously injured a motorcyclist on Cypress Avenue near Hartnell Avenue in Redding.
According to an article published by the KRCRTV News, the accident took place on Friday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck on April 1 at about 3:22 p.m.
The incident began when the motorcycle driver and a U-Haul van were both going east on Cypress Avenue in Redding. The motorcyclist was traveling in front at the time.
Police said for an unknown reason, the driver of the van looked down and away from the road. In the process, the vehicle slammed into the back of the motorcyclist.
U-Haul Van and Motorcycle Collide
The two collided on Cypress near Hartnell Avenue. The motorcycle and rider ended up pinned underneath the van, which then dragged them for several yards.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found the motorcyclist who sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then took the patient to a hospital for treatment of a possible fractured leg. The report did not release the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, police did not mention if the driver of the van was cited following the wreck. The cause of the Redding crash is still under investigation.
Officers forced eastbound Cypress Avenue to shut down for more than an hour and a half near Hartnell after the incident.
