Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Rio Vista Crash on Highway 160 Near Highway 12
RIO VISTA, CA (September 4, 2021) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured after a crash on Highway 160 near Highway 12 in Rio Vista.
The California Highway Patrol received a call about the accident on Saturday afternoon. According to their dispatch, officers reported the wreck shortly after 12:30 p.m.
The incident happened when the motorcyclist ran into the back of a black Dodge Dart for an unknown reason in Rio Vista. The two crashed on northbound Highway 160, just north of Highway 12.
Motorcycle and Car Collide
CHP said the Harley Davidson motorcycle went off the road and plunged down an embankment upon impact. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near the Rio Vista Bridge.
Medical personnel then found the rider who sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. They took the wounded party to a hospital for treatment.
Officials did not disclose the name of the patient and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP did not mention if the driver of the Dodge ended up hurt or if they stopped after the wreck.
Officers forced the northbound side of Highway 160 to shut down for an hour and a half following the collision. The cause of the Rio Vista crash is still under investigation.
