5 Injured in Riverside Wrong-Way Crash on 91 Freeway Near La Sierra Avenue
RIVERSIDE, CA (February 6, 2022) – Several were injured after a wrong-way crash on the 91 Freeway near La Sierra Avenue in Riverside.
According to an article published by My News LA, the accident took place early Sunday. Officers reported the wreck at about 1:31 a.m.
A California Highway Patrol dispatch said the incident began when a silver Dodge minivan was traveling east on the westbound 91 Freeway in Riverside.
After some time, the wrong-way driver then slammed into a white 2015 Infiniti Q50. The two crashed just east of La Sierra Avenue and obtained major damage upon impact.
2 Cars Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and extricated the trapped occupants from the wreckage. A total of five people ended up hurt as a result of the collision.
Three victims sustained critical injuries, one patient suffered moderate injuries and the fourth person survived with minor injuries. Medical personnel took them to hospitals for treatment.
The report did not disclose the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, the Riverside crash is still under investigation.
CHP forced the westbound lanes of the 91 Freeway to shut down near La Sierra following the wreck.
