Robert Fetzer, 18; and Taylor Travis, 19, Injured in Lake County Crash on Highway 20
LAKE COUNTY, CA (August 4, 2021) – A fatal crash injured Robert Fetzer and Taylor Travis on Highway 20 in Lake County.
The California Highway Patrol identified both men as the victims of the collision which took place on Saturday afternoon.
The incident happened when 18-year-old Robert Fetzer was driving a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta west on Highway 20 in Lake County. He was traveling with 19-year-old Taylor Travis at the time.
CHP said a 1997 Mazda Protege sedan going east crossed over the solid double yellow lines for an unknown reason. In the process, the Mazda slammed head-on into the Volkswagen.
Head-On Collision Near Blue Lakes
Both cars ended up damaged within the westbound lane of Highway 20, west of Blue Lakes Road. The Lake County News wrote that the accident occurred on July 31 at about 2:50 p.m.
Robert Fetzer, of Redwood Valley, and Taylor Travis, of Ukiah, sustained minor injuries as a result of the Lake County crash.
The driver of the Mazda, 31-year-old Ukiah resident Brittany Marie Turner, died at the scene. Her passenger, 34-year-old Ukiah resident Patrick Turner, suffered major injuries following the wreck.
Medical personnel then took the patients to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the cause of the Highway 20 crash is still under investigation.
