Robert Rivas, 47, Killed in Bakersfield Crash at Union and California Avenues
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 6, 2022) – Robert Rivas was killed after a car crash at Union and California avenues in Bakersfield.
The coroner’s office identified the 47-year-old Porterville man as the victim of the fatal wreck which took place on Friday morning.
The incident happened when Robert Joseph Rivas was driving a pickup truck in the city of Bakersfield. Police said for an unknown reason, he collided with a sedan.
The two cars crashed at the intersection of Union and East California avenues. The Bakersfield Californian and Kern Golden Empire wrote that the collision occurred on June 3 at about 4:53 a.m.
1 Badly Injured in Wreck
Robert Rivas sustained major injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics soon arrived at the scene and rushed him to the Kern Medical, where he died.
The male driver of the sedan survived the collision with moderate injuries. Medical personnel then took him to a hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, police forced the area of Union and East California avenues to shut down for a time following the wreck.
