Passenger Steps Out of Car, Hit by Truck on I-5
Corning, CA (December 31, 2022) – Rohit Rekhi, a 26-year-old man, died following a pedestrian accident that occurred on the Interstate 5 Freeway, the Red Bluff Daily News reported.
Our sources indicated Rekhi was a passenger in a vehicle traveling on the freeway Christmas Eve. When the vehicle approached the area near the “John C. Helmick” Roadside Rest Area, the driver veered off the shoulder and pulled over. According to the article published online, the passenger later stepped out of the vehicle.
Officials said the driver of a passing truck did not notice the male party and struck him. The horrible crash took place at approximately 2 p.m.
Deadly Pedestrian Accident Near Corning
When rescue teams arrived at the location, they immediately rendered aid to the man found lying on the ground. Paramedics performed life-saving measures to the victim but he sadly succumbed to his injuries and passed away. The Tehama County Coroner’s released the identity of the deceased–Rohit Rekhi, of Woodland.
Detectives stayed at the scene they whole afternoon. They continue to investigate several unclear factors surrounding the deadly accident that happened on Interstate 5 in Corning.
