1 Killed, 1 Badly Injured in Rosemead Crash on 10 Freeway Near Walnut Grove
ROSEMEAD, CA (February 6, 2022) – A DUI crash killed one person and badly injured another on the 10 Freeway near Walnut Grove Avenue in Rosemead.
According to the CBS Los Angeles and My News LA, the accident took place early Sunday. Officers reported the wreck at about 3:40 a.m., west of Walnut Grove Avenue.
The incident began when a vehicle became disabled for an unknown reason in the No. 3 lane of the eastbound 10 Freeway in Rosemead.
A 2016 Ford Mustang then struck the car and the driver standing outside at the time. The California Highway Patrol said the impact forced the stalled vehicle into the path of a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe.
Multiple Cars Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene. They soon confirmed that the male motorist hit by the Mustang died as a result of the collision.
A passenger in the Chevrolet, a 48-year-old man, sustained moderate injuries upon impact. Medical personnel took him to the Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center for treatment.
The name of the deceased and wounded victims have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP determined that the man driving the Mustang was under the influence of alcohol.
They arrested him for DUI. Officers forced the eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway to shut down near Walnut Grove for hours following the wreck. The Rosemead crash is still under investigation.
