2 Killed, 5 Injured in Sacramento County Crash at National Drive and Striker Avenue
SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA (May 21, 2021) – A crash at National Drive and Striker Avenue killed two people and injured several others in Sacramento County.
According to the CBS Sacramento and KCRA News, the tragic accident occurred on Friday evening. Officers reported the wreck at around 7:30 p.m.
The incident began when a Mustang convertible was traveling at a high rate of speed west on Striker Avenue. At the same time, a Chevy Malibu was going around 50 mph north on National Drive.
The Mustang ran a stop sign at the intersection and slammed into the Chevy. The California Highway Patrol said the convertible then rolled over due to the impact.
Speeding Driver Runs Red Light, Hits Another Car
Two rear passengers of the Mustang ended up ejected from their car. Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and pronounced them dead at the scene.
The speeding driver and front passenger of the convertible sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. The three occupants of the Malibu, two women and a child, survived with minor injuries.
Medical personnel soon took all five patients to a hospital for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
CHP forced intersection of National Drive and Striker Avenue to shut down for several hours following the wreck. The fatal Sacramento County crash is still under investigation.
