Woman Killed, Juvenile Hospitalized After Collision at Power Inn and Elsie
Sacramento County, CA (May 26, 2022) – One person died, and another suffered injuries following a suspected DUI crash that occurred in the area of Power Inn Road and Elsie Avenue.
The KCRA News published an article online reporting a 2-vehicle collision at the intersection in Sacramento County Thursday morning. Officials described the cars involved in the catastrophic incident as a white 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck, and a silver 2014 Ford Explorer.
Preliminary investigation revealed the Chevrolet was seen traveling at a high rate of speed and swerving in and out of traffic. Per local news source, the driver of the Chevrolet ran a red light at the crossing of Power Inn Road and Elsie Avenue. Subsequently, the Chevrolet crashed into a silver 2014 Ford Explorer occupied by a 34-year-old Sacramento woman, and a 4-year-old girl.
Shortly after 8:30 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. First responders found the Ford overturned. Paramedics later sadly pronounced the Sacramento woman deceased. Meanwhile, medical personnel reportedly rushed the juvenile to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The names of the victims remained undisclosed pending confirmation.
DUI Suspect Arrested After Deadly Car Accident in Sacramento County
Meanwhile, our sources indicated the 32-year-old man driving the Chevrolet attempted to walk away. Witnesses, however, apprehended and detained the suspect. Authorities confirmed the motorist showed signs of intoxication. For this reason, police arrested the driver of the Chevrolet on suspected DUI charges.
Detectives continue to investigate the deadly crash at Power Inn Road and Elsie Avenue.
