At Least 1 Killed in Traffic Collision on Highway 99 Monday
Salida, CA (July 12, 2021) – The California Highway Patrol group reported a fatal traffic accident that occurred Monday evening on State Route 99.
According to the CHP dispatch, a man riding a motorcycle collided with a white pickup truck in the southbound side of the highway. The crash happened near the Hammett Road offramp.
Emergency teams arrived at the location shortly after 9:45 p.m. First responders found the pickup truck with significant damage as a result of the incident.
Meanwhile, officials said the force from the impact possibly caused the motorcyclist to be thrown over the bridge. Initial records indicated the rider ended up into the nearby body of water.

The California Highway Patrol log later confirmed the motorcyclist died as a result of the crash. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the identity of the deceased remained undisclosed.
At this time, no immediate information was available on the driver of the pickup truck.
Detectives continue to investigate to determine the precise circumstances that led to the deadly motorcycle accident in Salida.
