Cyclist, 91, Killed in Collision on San Juan Grade Road Thursday
Salinas, CA (September 9, 2021) – A bicycle rider died following a traffic accident that occurred on San Juan Grade Road Thursday, the KSBW News reported.
Officials said a 91-year-old man was riding a bicycle in the streets of Salinas at about 10:20 a.m. When the cyclist approached the area near Boronda Road, he apparently turned directly in front of a vehicle traveling in the same direction.
According to the article published online, the car failed to avoid collision and hit the bicyclist from behind. The force from the impact resulted in serious injuries to the bicycle rider.
Deadly Bicycle Accident in Salinas, September 9
An ambulance later arrived at the crash site, and subsequently transported the patient to the hospital. Our sources indicated the bicyclist was admitted to the intensive care unit before he succumbed to his injuries and died. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the identity of the deceased remained undisclosed.
Authorities mentioned the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation process. At this time, detectives continue to work to determine the precise cause of the fatal bicycle accident in Salinas.
