2 Injured in Salinas Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 101 at Main Street
SALINAS, CA (January 2, 2022) – Two were hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash on Highway 101 and Main Street in Salinas.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident took place early Saturday, on New Year’s Day. According to their dispatch, officers reported the wreck at about 1:05 a.m.
The incident happened on January 1 when five vehicles collided in the city of Salinas. They crashed on southbound Highway 101 at North Main Street.
CHP described the cars as a silver Nissan Rogue, two sedans and a minivan. The van obtained major rear-end damage while the Nissan ended up with a broken left rear axle.
Multiple Vehicles Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found two people who sustained unknown injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then took both patients to the Natividad Medical Center for treatment. The report did not disclose the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver of the minivan abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers forced the southbound Highway 101 at Main Street to shut down following the wreck.
The cause of the Salinas hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
