Pedestrian Killed in San Bernardino Hit-and-Run Near Rialto and Waterman
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (October 4, 2021) – A DUI hit-and-run crash killed a pedestrian near Rialto and Waterman avenues in San Bernardino.
The Press Enterprise wrote that the fatal accident took place on Monday. Officers reported the collision at about 2:17 a.m.
The San Bernardino police said a vehicle struck the pedestrian. The driver hit the person near the intersection of Rialto and Waterman avenues.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found the victim down on the ground. The patient ended up suffering from serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Drunk Driver Hits Victim, Flees Scene
Medical personnel then rushed the victim to the Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he died. The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the male suspect did not stop to help and fled the crash site. Officers located him and determined that he was under the influence when he hit the person.
They soon arrested the man on suspicion of DUI causing injury or death and hit-and-run causing injury or death and DUI. The San Bernardino hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
Police forced the area of Rialto and Waterman to shut down for several hours following the collision.
