Pedestrian Critically Injured in San Diego Accident on El Cajon Boulevard
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 23, 2021) – A pedestrian was critically injured after an accident on El Cajon Boulevard in San Diego.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune and ABC 10 News, the collision took place on Saturday night. Officers reported the crash on May 22 at around 9 p.m.
The incident happened when a female pedestrian was crossing in the middle of the eastbound side of El Cajon Boulevard in the City Heights neighborhood.
Police said for an unknown reason, a 2017 Toyota Corolla then struck the 69-year-old woman. She was walking in an unmarked crosswalk near 50th Street at the time.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and found her down on the ground. The victim sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed her to a hospital with a fractured skull, brain bleed, fractured pelvis, cracked left ribs and a spinal injury. Officials did not release her name and condition at this time.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the 33-year-old man driving the Toyota ended up unharmed following the crash. Officers forced El Cajon Boulevard to close after the pedestrian accident.
Authorities are still determining the cause of the collision.
