Pedestrian Seriously Injured in San Diego Hit-and-Run on Interstate 8 Near Waring
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 2, 2021) – A pedestrian was seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash on the Interstate 8 in San Diego.
The California Highway Patrol dispatch team said the accident took place on Thursday night. Officers reported the accident shortly before 8 p.m.
According to CHP, a vehicle struck a male pedestrian for an unknown reason. The driver hit him on the westbound Interstate 8, just east of Waring Road, in the city of San Diego.
Victim Hit by Vehicle
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found the victim left lying in the center divider as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment of major injuries. Officials did not release the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the victim and fled the area. Officers forced the westbound lanes of the Interstate 8 to shut down following the incident.
The cause of the San Diego hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
