5 Hospitalized After Collision on Golden Gate Bridge Thursday
San Francisco, CA (November 11, 2021) – Several people suffered injuries following a pedestrian accident that occurred on the Golden Gate Bridge Thursday evening.
The East Bay Times News published an article online reporting a collision that took place during a protest by people opposed to vaccine mandates. The crash happened at about 6 p.m.
Preliminary investigation revealed participants gathered at the sidewalk entrance onto the bridge. At some point, the protesters attempted to take over the lane of traffic. Given that, the California Highway Patrol officers; and Golden Gate Bridge workers joined forces to keep the people away from traffic.
Per local news source, a vehicle accidentally crashed into a street sweeper on the bridge. The force from the impact pushed the street sweeper to the direction of the personnel monitoring the protesters.
Officers, Workers Injured in San Francisco Pedestrian Accident (November 11)
The incident resulted in injuries to two California Highway Patrol officers and three Golden Gate Bridge workers. Paramedics at the scene immediately rendered aid to the victims. Shortly after, an ambulance transported the injured parties to the hospital for treatment. Authorities continue to withhold the names of the patients pending confirmation.
At this time, investigators continue to work to determine liability in the car and pedestrian accident on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
