1 Killed, 3 Injured in San Jose Crash at Fruitdale and Leigh Avenues
SAN JOSE, CA (May 21, 2023) – A crash killed one person and injured several others at Fruitdale and Leigh avenues in San Jose.
According to The Mercury News and NBC Bay Area, the tragic accident took place on Sunday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck on May 21 shortly after 1:30 p.m.
The incident happened when two cars collided for an unknown reason in San Jose. Police said the vehicles crashed at the intersection of Fruitdale and Leigh avenues.
The reports described the cars involved as a gray Toyota Prius and a white Toyota Corolla. One of them then caught fire upon impact.
2 Cars Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived and pronounced a man driving one car dead at the scene. A total of three people ended up hurt as a result of the collision.
A female passenger and the other male driver sustained life-threatening injuries following the wreck. A juvenile occupant survived the accident with major injuries.
Medical personnel rushed all three patients to the hospital and listed the adults in critical condition. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, police forced the area of Fruitdale and Leigh avenues to shut down for a time after the wreck. The cause of the fatal San Jose crash is still under investigation.
