1 Killed, 2 Injured in San Jose Crash at Piedmont and Berryessa Roads
SAN JOSE, CA (February 5, 2022) – A car crash killed one person and injured two others at Piedmont Road and Berryessa Road in San Jose.
According to the NBC Bay Area and CBS San Francisco, the tragic accident took place on Saturday evening. Officers reported the wreck at around 8:20 p.m.
The incident began when a 2008 Audi sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed west on Suncrest Avenue, approaching Piedmont Road, in San Jose.
At the same time, a 2016 Honda was going south on Piedmont. Police said the Audi ran a red light at the intersection and then struck the Honda.
Driver Runs Red Light, Hits Another Car
The car crashed near the Piedmont Hills High School. The Audi went off the road and slammed into two trees at Gurney Court and Berryessa Road.
Police confirmed that the woman driving the Audi died at the scene. Her passenger survived with life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
Paramedics rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment. Medical personnel provided aid to the driver of the Honda, a man, for the non-life-threatening injuries he sustained in the accident.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, police forced the intersection of Berryessa and Piedmont roads to shut down following the wreck.
