Pedestrian Killed in San Jose Hit-and-Run on Highway 101 Near Alum Rock
SAN JOSE, CA (September 18, 2021) -A pedestrian was killed after a hit-and-run crash on Highway 101 in San Jose.
According to an article published by the East Bay Times, the tragic accident took place on Saturday morning. Officers reported the incident at about 6:30 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol said a vehicle struck the pedestrian for an unknown reason in San Jose. The driver hit the person who was walking on northbound Highway 101 near Alum Rock Avenue at the time.
Victim Hit by Vehicle
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found the victim left lying on the ground. The patient sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon pronounced the pedestrian dead. The name of the deceased party remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the victim and then fled the area. The fatal San Jose hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
Officers forced the two right-hand lanes of northbound Highway 101 to shut down for several hours following the collision.
