Pedestrian Injured in San Luis Obispo Hit-and-Run on Highway 1 Near Gilardi
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (January 10, 2022) – A hit-and-run crash injured a pedestrian on Highway 1 near Gilardi Road in San Luis Obispo.
The California Highway Patrol dispatch team said the accident took place on Monday night. Officers reported the incident at about 9:42 p.m.
According to CHP, a vehicle struck the pedestrian for an unknown reason in San Luis Obispo. The driver hit the person on southbound Highway 1, just south of Gilardi Road.
Driver Hits Victim, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near a shooting range. They found the victim hurt and limping as a result of the collision
Medical personnel provided aid to the patient for the leg injury they sustained in the incident. The report did not release the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to help and then fled the area. Officers forced the southbound lanes of Highway 1 to shut down near Gilardi following the collision.
The cause of the San Luis Obispo hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
