Innocent Driver Injured in Collision at Centre City and West El Norte Parkway
San Marcos, CA (January 25, 2023) – A civilian motorist suffered injuries following a traffic accident that occurred in the area of Centre City and West El Norte Parkway, the San Diego Union-Tribune News reported.
On January 24, Tuesday, police launched a pursuit after they spotted an allegedly stolen car in North County. Preliminary investigation revealed deputies tried to stop the suspect driving a stolen Honda Civic near State Route Highway 78 and Twin Oaks Valley Road. According to the article published online, the suspect did not pull over and continued driving.
Police drove after the suspect and reached the intersection of Centre City and West El Norte Parkway. The chase came to an end when the Honda Civic collided with a civilian car uninvolved in the pursuit. Due to the force from the impact, the civilian car smashed into an Escondido police vehicle and a deputy’s vehicle.
Shortly after 8:15 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. First responders found the man driving the civilian car suffering in injuries. An ambulance transported the victim to a hospital for further treatment.
Suspect Arrested After Injury Car Accident in San Marcos
Authorities added the suspect also received treatment for injuries sustained in the collision. The man was eventually arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle; evading police; driving under the influence; and possession of a controlled substance.
Further investigation is ongoing on the chase that ended up in a crash at Centre City and West El Norte Parkway in San Marcos.
