Man, 39, Killed in San Martin Hit-and-Run Crash on Monterey Street
SAN MARTIN, CA (January 10, 2022) – A pedestrian was killed after a hit-and-run crash on Monterey Street in San Martin.
According to The Mercury News and KION News, the tragic accident took place on Monday. The incident began when a male pedestrian was walking on the east side of on Monterey Street in San Martin.
At the same time, a vehicle was going north. The California Highway Patrol said for an unknown reason, the driver then veered into the shoulder.
In the process, the motorist struck the 39-year-old San Martin man just north of Masten Avenue. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found him left lying on the ground.
Pedestrian Hit by Car
The victim ended up suffering from severe injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel soon pronounced him dead at the scene.
The name of the deceased man has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver did not stop to render aid and fled the area.
They described the car as a 2016 to 2019 Honda Civic which left its side-view mirror after hitting the victim. The cause of the fatal San Martin crash is still under investigation.
