1 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured in San Mateo County Crash on Highway 92 Near Interstate 280
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA (April 8, 2022) – A crash killed one person and seriously injured another on Highway 92 near the Interstate 280 in San Mateo County.
According to the East Bay Times and KTVU News, the fatal accident took place on Friday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 4:30 p.m.
The incident began when a red 2017 Honda Accord was going east on Highway 92 near Crystal Springs Reservoir in San Mateo County. At the same time, a gray 2002 BMW was traveling west.
2 Cars Collide
For an unknown reason, the Honda drifted into the westbound lane. The California Highway Patrol said the Accord then slammed head-on into the BMW, just west of the Interstate 280.
The driver of the BMW, a man in his 30s, died at the scene. The motorist in the Honda, a woman in her 20s, sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Paramedics rushed her to the Stanford Health Care for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP forced Highway 92 to shut down from the Interstate 280 to Skyline Boulevard for hours following the wreck. The cause of the San Mateo County crash is still under investigation.
