Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in San Ysidro Crash on Interstate 5 Near Camino
SAN YSIDRO, CA (December 2, 2021) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured after a crash on the Interstate 5 near Camino de la Plaza in San Ysidro.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the accident took place late Thursday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 11:05 p.m.
The incident began when a vehicle was traveling north on the southbound Interstate 5 near Camino de la Plaza in San Ysidro. CHP said the wrong-way driver then slammed into the motorcycle rider.
Wrong-Way Driver Hits Motorcycle Rider
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene. They found the motorcyclist down on the ground as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then took the patient to the UC San Diego Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. The report did not disclose the name of the wounded victim and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP did not mention if the other motorist ended up hurt or if they stayed following the wreck. The San Ysidro crash is still under investigation.
Officers forced the southbound lanes of the Interstate 5 to shut down near Camino after the collision.
