Sandra Vega Andrade, 21, Suspect in Injury Traffic Collision on W. Market Street Wednesday
Salinas, CA (August 4, 2021) – Police arrested 21-year-old Sandra Vega Andrade following a car crash that occurred on W. Market Street early Wednesday morning.
The KSBW8 News reported Sandra Andrade was behind the wheel of a 2012 Jeep Liberty traveling in the streets of Salinas. When the Jeep approached the area near Clark Street, the driver allowed the vehicle to veer off the roadway.
Shortly after 3:30 a.m., emergency crews arrived at the location and found the Jeep slammed against a power pole. The force from the impact caused the vehicle to shear the first pole; and ended up hitting a second pole. The Jeep came to a rest with the front end wrapped around the power pole.
Passenger Hospitalized After DUI Car Crash in Salinas, August 4
First responders found both Sandra Andrade and a passenger with injuries. Due to their severe condition, paramedics rushed both patients to the local hospital. Our sources indicated the passenger received treatment for a fractured femur, a broken arm and brain swelling.
Meanwhile, police reportedly issued a warrant for the arrest of Sandra Andrade for when she leaves the hospital. Authorities said the driver showed signs of intoxication at the time of the collision.
Further investigation on the case is underway.
