1 Killed, 3 Injured in Santa Clara Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 101
SANTA CLARA, CA (June 6, 2021) – A wrong-way crash killed one person and injured three others on Highway 101 in Santa Clara.
According to The Mercury News and NBC Bay Area, the tragic accident occurred on Sunday morning. Officers reported the wreck at about 4:30 a.m.
The incident began when a Toyota Corolla was traveling north in the southbound lanes of Highway 101 in Santa Clara. The Corolla then slammed head-on into a Toyota Camry.
A Nissan Sentra going southbound ultimately collided with the Camry. The California Highway Patrol said the cars crashed near the Montague Expressway interchange.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and confirmed that the wrong-way driver died as a result of the collision.
Three people from the other vehicles involved ended up hurt upon impact. Medical personnel took them to hospitals for treatment of unspecified injuries.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, officials forced the southbound lanes of the Highway 101 to shut down for several hours following the wreck.
The cause of the fatal Santa Clara crash is still under investigation.
