Bicycle Rider, 14, Injured in Santa Maria Crash at Battles and Miller
SANTA MARIA, CA (July 9, 2022) – A teen bicycle rider was hospitalized after a crash at Battles Road and Miller Street in Santa Maria.
According to an article published by the KSBY News, the accident took place on Wednesday evening. Officers reported the collision at around 6:40 p.m.
Santa Maria police said the incident happened on July 6 when a vehicle struck a 14-year-old boy riding a bicycle in the city. The truck hit him at the intersection of Battles Road and Miller Street.
Truck Hits Teen Bicyclist
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found the bicyclist who ended up hurt as a result of the collision.
An air ambulance then took the teen to the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. The report did not disclose the condition of the patient at this time.
Meanwhile, police added that the driver stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the boy. Officials forced the area of Battles and Miller to shut down following the incident.
The cause of the Santa Maria bicycle crash is still under investigation.
