At Least 1 Killed in Collision Near Main Street
Santa Maria, CA (May 9, 2022) – A deadly car accident occurred Monday on Highway 101, the Santa Maria Times News reported.
Officials said 20-year-old Marcos Salazar was behind the wheel of a 2007 Nissan 350Z traveling on the highway. Preliminary investigation revealed the Nissan collided with a 2002 Honda CRV in the area near Main Street.
According to the article published online, both the Nissan and the Honda were traveling north on SR-101 when the catastrophic incident took place. The force from the impact caused the Honda to rollover several times. Authorities added the Honda crashed into the center divider and flipped onto the southbound side of the freeway.
Driver Dies at Hospital After Car Accident on Highway 101 in Santa Maria
Responding paramedics found the driver of the Honda unresponsive. Medical personnel rushed the patient to Marian Regional Medical Center, where he later sadly died. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, Marcos Salazar reportedly appeared unharmed after the incident.
Investigators continue to work at this time to determine the precise cause of the horrible crash on Highway 101 in Santa Maria.
