Shae Lopez, 33, Killed in Ventura Crash on 101 Freeway Near Victoria Avenue

VENTURA, CA (March 6, 2022) – Shae Lopez was killed after a wrong-way crash on US 101 Freeway in Ventura.

The coroner’s office identified the 33-year-old Oxnard woman as one of the victims in the fatal wreck which took place on Sunday.

The incident began when Shae Lopez was driving a dark-colored Acura RSX south on the 101 Freeway in Ventura. At the same time, a gray Honda Civic was traveling north in the southbound lanes.

Wrong-Way Driver Dead in Wreck

The driver of the Honda, 23-year-old Camarillo resident Javier Lopez, then struck the Acura. The California Highway Patrol said the two cars crashed near Victoria Avenue.

The Ventura County Star and KVTA News wrote that the accident occurred at about 1:59 a.m. Both Shae Lopez and Javier Lopez died at the scene of the crash.

Firefighters extricated the passenger of the Acura, a 33-year-old Oxnard man, from the wreckage. Paramedics rushed him to the Ventura County Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.

Meanwhile, CHP forced the southbound lanes of 101 Freeway between Telephone Road and Victoria Avenue to shut down following the wreck. The Ventura crash is still under investigation.
