Major Injury Collision on Interstate 5 (Cascade Wonderland Highway) Wednesday
Shasta Lake, CA (June 16, 2021) – A traffic accident that occurred on Interstate 5 resulted in injuries, the California Highway Patrol group reported.
On Wednesday, at about 10:20 p.m., a semi truck crashed into the center divider along northbound I-5, also known as Cascade Wonderland Highway.

Authorities said the collision caused debris to scatter across the freeway. Eventually, several passing vehicles struck the broken parts of the truck ejected onto the roadway. The exact number of cars that hit the debris remained unknown at this time.
The rubble on the highway later triggered a traffic accident. Per CHP dispatch, a passenger vehicle ended up driving down the embankment after swerving to avoid the debris.
When rescue teams arrived at the site, they immediately rendered aid to all possible victims. Officials confirmed at least one person sustained major injuries as a result of the crash.
Several factors surrounding the car and truck accident in Shasta Lake remained unclear. Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
