Off-Duty Sheriff’s Deputy Killed in Solo Crash on Santa Anita Ave
TEMPLE CITY, Calif. (Sept. 16, 2021) – Sheriff’s Deputy Cameron Fish, 33, died early Thursday morning in a “high speed” crash while driving an expensive sports car on Santa Anita Avenue.
His passenger, Diana Whang, 28, of Temecula, was injured in the Temple City collision. The deadly crash happened about 2:10 a.m. on Sept. 16th, just north of Freer Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The off-duty Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy was driving a 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 when he reportedly lost control at a curve in the roadway. Both driver and passenger were ejected when the vehicle crossed onto the center median and hit a light pole, according to ABC News.

Sheriff’s Deputy Cameron Fish died at the scene of the solo crash, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Meanwhile, paramedics rushed his passenger to a hospital. Doctors are treating the young woman for a head injury, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Investigators seek to determine whether or not alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in this crash, police said.
