2 Killed, 2 Injured in Sherman Oaks Crash on 101 Freeway
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 24, 2021) – A DUI crash killed two people and injured three others on the 101 Freeway in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood.
According to the ABC 7 News and My News LA, the tragic accident occurred early Saturday. Officers reported the wreck at about 12:10 a.m.
The incident began when a 2008 Honda was going on east on the 110 Freeway, east of Van Nuys Boulevard, in Sherman Oaks.
The California Highway Patrol said the 2008 Honda slammed into the rear of a 2019 Isuzu box truck. The impact forced both vehicles into the center divider wall.
The Isuzu then entered the westbound lanes and collided with a 2017 Honda. CHP added that concrete debris from the wall hit a 2016 Dodge also traveling west on the 110 Freeway at the time.
Multi-Vehicle Collision Near Van Nuys Boulevard
Firefighters pronounced the 40-year-old female passenger of the box truck dead at the scene. They also rushed a 15-year-old boy riding the Isuzu to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where he died.
Medical personnel took the 49-year-old Reseda woman driving the 2017 Honda for treatment of major injuries. The motorist in the 2016 Dodge, a 37-year-old woman, ended up unharmed.
The deceased victims and the 53-year-old man operating the box truck were from Santa Maria. Their names and the other parties involved have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the 20-year-old Los Angeles woman driving the 2008 Honda was under the influence of alcohol. Officials transported her to a hospital with moderate injuries.
