1 Seriously Injured in Shingletown on Eastbound Highway 44

SHASTA COUNTY, CA (June 1, 2021) – At least one was seriously injured after a big rig crash on Highway 44 west of Shingletown.

According to an article published by The Record Searchlight, the accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon. Officers reported the shortly after 1:30 p.m.

The California Highway Patrol said the big rig and two other vehicles collided for an unknown reason near Shingletown. They crashed on eastbound Highway 44, just east of Inwood Road.

A CHP dispatch described the other cars involved as a white Chevrolet Silverado and a blue Nissan Versa. The semi-truck rolled over due to the impact of the collision.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and then extricated a trapped occupant from the wreckage. One person sustained major injuries as a result of the crash.

Medical personnel soon rushed the wounded party to a hospital for treatment. Officials did not release the name of the patient and their condition at this time.

Meanwhile, CHP forced both east and westbound lanes of Highway 44 to shut down following the collision. Authorities are still determining the cause of the Shingletown crash.
