Simranjit Kaur, 28; and Navneet Kaur, 20, Killed in Fresno Crash
FRESNO, CA (March 24, 2021) – A car crash killed Simranjit Kaur and Navneet Kaur at McKinley and Cedar avenues in Fresno last month.
The county coroner’s office identified the 28-year-old Huron, and the 20-year-old Fresno residents as victims of the fatal wreck. The accident occurred on March 20.
The incident began when 20-year-old Francisco Portillo was recklessly driving a black Chevrolet Camaro in the area of McKinley Avenue and Highway 41.
A pursuit ensued but stopped after Francisco Portillo ran a red light at McKinley and First Street. He then struck six other vehicles waiting at the intersection of McKinley and Cedar avenues.
Multi-Car Collision at McKinley and Cedar Avenues
Officials affirmed that cousins Simranjit Kaur, 28; and Navneet Kaur, 20, died as a result of the collision. Simranjit Kaur and Navneet Kaur were riding the same vehicle at the time.
Paramedics pronounced the man in the first car hit by the Chevrolet dead at the scene. Meanwhile, medical personnel took Portillo and his female passenger to the Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The tragic Fresno crash is still under investigation.
