1 Injured in Smith River Crash on Highway 101 Near Pelican
SMITH RIVER, CA (January 8, 2023) – One was hospitalized after a crash on Highway 101 near the Pelican State Beach in Smith River.
The California Highway Patrol first logged the accident on Friday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck on January 6 shortly after 5 p.m.
The incident happened when two cars collided for an unknown reason in Smith River. The vehicles crashed on Highway 101 near the Pelican State Beach.
2 Cars Collide
CHP described the two cars involved as a white Nissan Pathfinder and a blue Lincoln sedan. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
They found one person who ended up hurt as a result of the collision. Medical personnel then rushed the patient to the Sutter Coast Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The report did not disclose the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, officers forced a stretch of Highway 101 to shut down near the Pelican following the wreck.
The cause of the Smith River crash is still under investigation.
