E-Bike Rider Hit and Killed by Vehicle Near Lomas Santa Fe Drive Saturday
Solana Beach, CA (March 1, 2022) – A fatal traffic accident occurred on Highway 101 on February 26, Saturday.
The Oside News reported a 65-year-old man was riding his newly purchased electric bicycle on Highway 101. Preliminary investigation revealed the motorist was driving in a designated bike lane in the northbound side of the highway.
According to the article published online, the man riding an electric bicycle attempted to overtake a slower cyclist going in the same direction. In the process, the e-bike began to wobble, causing the 65-year-old man to fall into traffic.
Our sources indicated an oncoming Dodge truck hit the motorist when he fell into the lane. The catastrophic incident took place near Lomas Santa Fe Drive.
When emergency crews arrived at the location, they found the driver of the electric bicycle with major injuries. Paramedics rushed the patient to Scripps Hospital in La Jolla. Sadly, the man succumbed to his injuries and later died.
Several factors surrounding the unfortunate event have not been discussed thus far. At this time, detectives continue to work to determine liability in the deadly accident on Highway 101 in Solana Beach.
